Junior Domestic 12+ Mandatory Vaccination Policy

Based on the BV release on Monday, November 22nd, and after discussions with BV executive management, the KBA will be adopting the policy requiring individuals aged over 12 years and-2-months who attend any Keilor Basketball facility to be fully vaccinated.

Each venue where Keilor Basketball operate on a weekly basis will have a minimum of one venue supervisor to assist with venue entry. Every patron (12-and-2-months or older) will be required to check in via the venue QR Code on their smart-phone and will need to show their vaccination status via the Services Victoria App.

Whilst we acknowledge that under the government’s current guidelines attendance at community sport does not attract the above policy, many of our venues are considered to be multi-purpose venues where this does apply. For consistency and uniformity purposes and to avoid confusion and frustration we have decided to adhere to this policy across all venues.

The following is a summary of the rules that will be effective from this Friday, November 26th:

  • All patrons aged 12 years 2 months and over must be fully vaccinated (unless medically exempt) and show vaccination status to gain entry. No vaccination, no entry.

  • All attendees to KBA facilities will be required to QR code upon entry.

  • Masks are no longer mandatory but are highly recommended in settings where social distancing is not possible.

From a club operational perspective, the KBA have decided not to impose any penalties for walkovers for Round 4 this weekend.

We appreciate that the vaccination mandate policy is going to present some challenges to all clubs. We also understand that this is not an ideal situation, but we need to take into consideration the requirements of venues and we have a duty of care to our basketball community.
