Return to Sport Update

The Victorian Government, on advice from the Department of Health, has eased restrictions from the circuit-breaker lockdown for Greater Melbourne and Regional Victoria, with these measures starting from Thursday 17 June at 11.59pm.

Greater Melbourne

In line with Victorian Government health directives, basketball in Greater Melbourne will move to the ORANGE-50 REACTIVATION LEVEL, however with a maximum limit of 50 people indoors in a venue at one time and limited to the minimum number of people required to participate in and facilitate the activity. Spectators in Greater Melbourne are not allowed, excluding the people necessary for events such as coaches, referees, carers, parents and guardians.

Regional Victoria

With the lessening of circuit-breaker restrictions in Regional Victoria, basketball in those regions will be able to move to the ORANGE-50 REACTIVATION LEVEL, with a maximum venue capacity of 300 people per venue as well as a maximum group size of 50 people per court. Spectators in Regional Victoria are allowed within venue limits.

Unfortunately, the extent of this easing does not permit a return to competition as soon as we would have hoped.

The upcoming VJBL round scheduled for Friday 18 June has been cancelled. This round will not be rescheduled due to the previous February lockdown exhausting all available catch-up weeks. KBA are looking at holding multiple training sessions for all teams between Friday 18th June - Thursday 24th June 2021. More information coming soon.
